MOVING FORWARD
A New Ministry!
Early next year I am going to be starting a new ministry at our base called ‘Rahab’. In our state & most of Australia prostitution & brothels are completely legal. There are about 100 legally operating brothels in our area & it is a big industry here. This means plenty of opportunity to share God's love with girls that desperately need it. Rahab started about 6 years ago, it has been going at a few other bases, and is expanding throughout Australia. We will be weekly visiting a few of the local brothels, bringing gifts such as flowers, candy, chocolate, jewellery etc. to the girls working in them & just blessing them. Because prostitution is legal here there is a wide open door to be able to share the gospel & speak value & identity to the girls. I know this will be a journey of prayer & relationship but I expect God will do amazing things through this ministry & we will see transformed lives! Please be praying for the lead up & everything that goes in to starting this. We will be getting a week of training before it begins by the women who started the ministry early next year & will start with just a few brothels and see how God leads us.
Finishing SOIYM!
It is hard to believe nearly 6 months have gone by since I launched our first ever School of Innovative Youth Ministry. It has been an incredible experience having this focussed time to dive more into youth culture & the issues facing this current generation. Plus to have the opportunity to straight away apply it & see fruit through Youth Street has been unreal. Since the start we have seen the number of youth attending nearly double! Plus we have begun work on a brand new seminar we will be pitching to run in high schools to address cyber bullying. (Click Here for a chilling reminder of why we do what we do.) Please pray for us as we wrap up this final week & look to how we can continue to apply what we have learned.
Youth Street
As I mentioned above having the SOIYM running this past quarter alongside Youth Street has been an exciting time. We have been so blessed with real fruit week in & week out. I don’t think a week has gone by where there wasn’t a story of a young person giving their lives to Jesus or even hearing about him for the first time! As you may know Jess is now leading our YS Surf Team & recently took the team for a day trip to Bondi beach in Sydney. On that night one of the girls who came gave her life to Jesus! Also recently I spoke at our night event called Youth Street Live. I spoke from Luke 19 about Zacchaeus & how he completely changed his life around after having Jesus into his home. As I spoke I had my Twitter up on the screen posting everything I said & then challenged them to not only change their lives around at Youth Street but also in their schools & on Facebook! This is something a lot of young people today are struggling with & I was stoked on the response.
Thanks so much for reading & we hope you have a very Merry Christmas!!!
